In many (not all) places in the United States, a minimum wage job could provide shelter, water, food, clothing, public transportation, AND catastrophic health insurance, WITH MONEY TO SPARE for one person. With the leftover time and money, the poor person could further their education and skills, and stop being poor.

Why do the poor cost so much money in welfare?
Because the big banks and government charge a huge handling fee.

Ironic how the useful idiot left hate banks but they are the banks useful idiots.

Where the heck do you suppose that a minimum wage job could do all that? Nicaragua?

I live in Arizona, a state considered to be cheap or at least "cheaper" than average.

You ain't doing none of that here on a minimum wage job.

Besides, you're oversimplifying the issue.

In any case, if there's money to take care of poor people everywhere else, there's money for poor Americans.

Sure, cool story. When you get around to supply data, instead of writing fiction, then I'll give a flying rats ass.

Better to question the whole notion of why its okay to rob peter to pay paul, (i.e. welfare)rather than wondering if the act of robbery could be made more efficient.

A single poor person with no debilities would not be on "welfare."

Well, government assistance to the poor is older than the Roman empire--the Romans had a public dole of grain and bread to the poor. The concept of society being mandated to provide for the poor is older than that, documented in the Mosaic Law. So good luck rolling that idea back.

What? Like with some communist socialist idea like Basic income or other insanity? (grin).

Seriously people think jobs just appear, or that theres demand for work sufficient to employ everyone.

An even better question would be WHY is it okay to rob Peter to bomb the crap out of Abdul's country with NO benefit to Peter and then rob some more from Peter to rebuild Abdul's country that you've already destroyed?
