Great work, guys.
And many of the remainder have "unknown" immunization status, or are only partially immunized, e.g. just got one dose of the vaccine. The ironic thing is, the MMR vaccine NEVER contained ANY thimerosal.

So it sounds like at minimum, 90% of those affected were unvaccinated. Why do you and Dane care. They are just crazy "anti-vaxxers".

First of all, I'm sorry for the people who suffered with measles. Measles has a 30% complication rate. It is true, as the anti-vaxxers (I like that spelling!) remind us at every turn that there have been no deaths in the US from measles with these latest outbreaks, but that doesn't mean there haven't been any complications, including some severe ones. Even uncomplicated measles is no picnic.
Measles Complications - Diseases and Conditions - Mayo Clinic
**Complications of measles may include:
Ear infection. One of the most common complications of measles is a bacterial ear infection.
Bronchitis, laryngitis or croup. Measles may lead to inflammation of your voice box (larynx) or inflammation of the inner walls that line the main air passageways of your lungs (bronchial tubes).
Pneumonia. Pneumonia is a common complication of measles. People with compromised immune systems can develop an especially dangerous variety of pneumonia that is sometimes fatal.
Encephalitis. About 1 in 1,000 people with measles develops encephalitis, an inflammation of the brain that may cause vomiting, convulsions, and, rarely, coma or even death. Encephalitis can closely follow measles, or it can occur months later.
Pregnancy problems. If you're pregnant, you need to take special care to avoid measles because the disease can cause pregnancy loss, preterm labor or low birth weight.
Low platelet count (thrombocytopenia). Measles may lead to a decrease in platelets — the type of blood cells that are essential for blood clotting.

No biggies, right?
Measles Outbreak In Ohio Leads Amish To Reconsider Vaccines : Shots - Health News : NPR
**"The rash. They had the conjunctivitis in the eyes, their eyes were red," she says. "They don't want the light, they sit in the darkened room, wear dark glasses. I mean they were just miserable. High temperatures, 103, 104 temps. So this was the measles."**

Secondly, some of those 90% were probably too young to be vaccinated (under 1 year of age), and/or had parents who were anti-vaxxers, so they got sick through no fault of their own. There are also a few people who can't get immunized b/c they are immunocompromised (leukemia, other immune system diseases), and also family members of these people who also can't be immunized.

Empathy?

And the fact that they act as incubators, spreading germs to those with compromised immune systems, those whose vaccinations didn't peopwerly kick in (for whatever reason) - they're not just running a risk on their own behalf - and of course, a lot of them are kids who had no say in the first place.

But hey, measles are natural.

Where is the empathy for the African American boys who may have been injured by the mmr vaccine? The cover up has been very effective. The mainstream media have been very quiet.

You anti-vaxxers have all the angles! First, it has not been proven that these 5 kids were damaged by the MMR vaccine. No other study has shown such an association. Secondly, if they have, then yes, I have empathy for them, but I seriously doubt the vaccine made them autistic. There's been a lot of research that shows that most kids were showing symptoms of autism (flapping) by their first birthday, as seen on videos their parents made!

ETA: "Maybe this happened" not being much of a story!

It's being covered up so we may never find out the answer. Thompson admitted to wrong doing but it doesn't appear that any real investigation will be launched. It's being swept under the rug. Autism appears to have a very strong genetic component but is often thought to be triggered by something in the environment. The 2004 study points to the need for further investigation into the possibility of a connection between the mmr vaccine and autism. Until that happens, people have every right to be mistrustful and suspicious of the CDC and their studies in regards to vaccinations and autism. They have already shown that they manipulated data in one study in order to skew the outcome. What else have they lied about?

Yeah, and no one in the pro-vax camp seems to even be interested in finding out the answer. They just want to defend the CDC and vaccines without question.
