I stopped at "we could always point to our western border for a state that was even more backwards". An objective article does not include phrases like that.

Sounds valid to me.

Alabama is a pretty sad place, but they should feel like Switzerland when they realize Mississippi is next door.

This article is like the Reader's Digest version of the original, which ran in the Spectator. I don't buy this guy's methodology for coming to this conclusion. You have to see his entire table before realizing how flawed his "study" is. Given the choice between living in the UK or MS, apparently the world's billionaires prefer Britain. This is apples to oranges.
