If mankind was ever ruled by logical and reasonable people, government would be paid for by trade levies and tariffs (as our nation was originally), and possibly a national sales tax. Of course, a national sales tax would need to be 500% or 600% --five or six times the cost of the product or service being sold--to support the leviathan Big Government we currently have, and that would reveal just how much of an economic drain Big Government actually is.

So it is much better for the ruling classes to hide the huge cost of government by the countless taxes imposed at all three levels of government, at every step of distribution, every unit of production, every time period, and every other variable that can possibly be identified.
Yes because a government in 2014 can work effectively for free. yup. Sure.

How idiotic is that. There have been numerous studies that have shown the optimal capital gains tax is around 9%.

Do you understand if the tax is too high that people will utilize other options to obtain greater gains?

Are you determined to wipe out your own 401k?
Yes, they are. That's how idiotic they are.

I don't know what the numbers should be exactly but you'll note that pretty much would be the rate for those making up to 50k. And yes, income should be taxed as income, period.

Why do taxes have to be progressive? Take 50 percent of a person's earnings? How is that fair?

Because they are not people, they are worker bots, created to benefit the liberal overlords who run the state.

The term "slave" denotes a measure of humanity, thus "bot" is a more accurate description.
