The Tea Party gift-wrapped the 2012 election for Obama. Are they trying to do the same for the Democrats in 2014? If they'd just stay out of sight, they might have more success that way.
Tea Party.Net has just started promoting bumper stickers with America Love It Or Leave It. I am surprised that it took the Tea Party this long to revise the bumper sticker. The Tea Party has been trying to divide Americans since 2009. I guess if you disagree with a Tea Partier you have to leave America.
Funny how they don't take their own advice but expect other people to!
You mean like how liberals complained about Bush's deficits but were fine with Obama running even higher deficits? Or like how they warned that changing the rules of the Senate would damage the republic when the GOP controlled the Senate, but then made those very same changes themselves once they controlled the Senate? Or like how they complain about corporate dollars influencing elections but say nothing about labor union dollars influencing elections? Is that the sort of thing you mean?
There's something to be said for that. How many times does someone suggest "just round up all [insert_idea_promoters_here] and throw them all in jail!" or "saying X should be illegal!" or "if you don't have anything to hide, just let the police walk all over you?" Frankly, those people SHOULD leave the country. While it is at the core of what it means to be American to want to change the country, that change can not be what fundamentally makes us American. It should not be an abandonment of our core principles just to be able to get rid of small annoyances. When someone suggests adopting what amounts to an authoritarian stance, then yes, they should just leave!
Nah, liberals don't hate America, just have no respect for those so incapable of original thought they attempt resurrecting a lame sound-bite that was pure BS during the Vietnam Era and is still BS today.
Liberals hate America just as much as everyone else. The people in America tend to be attached to America, usually because they were born here, their job is here, their family is here, etc. They may claim they love America, but who doesn't want to change America drastically? At best, Conservatives might "prefer" some of the laws from the past, but they certainly don't want all of them. Libertarians may even prefer many of the systems of the past, but certainly don't want all of them either.
Thus, it might be true that Conservatives will claim the past was better, based on the fact that the past "in aggregate" would take the country in the direction politically that they want to be. But trust me, there is no time in history where any American would ever be 100% content with either government or society in general. As I said, the truth is, everyone hates America. Either they feel like they are stuck here(because of social/familial obligations), or they simply think America is the "least worst" country.
The real problem here is that people cannot seem to think outside the box. If we take the whole "America, love it or leave it" slogan. First, if we were being honest, everyone should pack up their crap and leave. Second, why are these the only choices? How about, "America, love it or secede from it and see if you can do better".
Isn't that what Americans did to begin with?
