Link: The cost of going back to Iraq - Sep. 3, 2014

But the Iraq war, called "Operation Iraqi Freedom," averaged about $240 million a day.

Wow...now that the numbers are out - we could have invested in upgrading our infrastructure, highways, schools, bolster social security etc...

What a waste!!!

We can't spend the money here because as conservatives say, that'd be "throwing money at the problem."

As long as it doesn't immediately affect the US, It would be cheaper to let them kill each other and step in later to deal with it.

I wonder what that comes to in, say, school lunches. Or bridges.

Or more than five times as expensive as Obamacare subsidies and double what Obamacare and Medicaid expansion costs this year. Republicans havent found a war they dont like that doesnt screw taxpayers over.

Let's take a look at the wars of the past 100 years, and at which party held the white house at the time:

WWI........Democrats
WWII.......Democrats
Korea.......Democrats
Vietnam....Democrats
Iraq..........Republicans
Afghanistan.Republicans.

So that's a 4-2 ratio, and arguably Iraq/Afghanistan should be combined into one, the same as Germany and Japan are (WWII). Both Iraq and Afghanistan were launched in reaction to 9/11. Then you get a 4-1 ratio.
