Maybe because most normal, rational people who don't have a politically motivated bone to pick don't see the name Redskins as it pertains to the football team as any type of racial slur?

New England has to know by now, the Patriots is a racist term and places you on the DHS domestic terrorist list. The name needs to be changed.

Believe me, Yankee can be used as a derogatory term.
I always liked the name, it usually starts with "Yank" and moves to "The War of Northern Aggression".

I just hope the Phillies don't try to change their name.

Back in the 1950s pressure was put on a baseball team to change its name because it could be taken to be Communist. The team was the Cincinnati Reds. Now lets consider a team named the Vancouver Canucks.

There was a team in the old Negro Leagues of baseball called the Atlanta Black Crackers.

I'm quite sure if that team existed today the PC world would spin off its axis.
