We are already the largest prison nation on earth, so such logic has proven entirely wrong

I would have asked if that was sarcasm, however I bet it wasn't.

Was this a three strikes thing or what? Life for a plant. Well, that's more government for ya.

It's not sarcasm. This country has a very large number of people that use/sell illegal drugs.

There's still anti-gay state laws, which would put people in prison for their sexual preference.

Just because something is the law doesn't make it a good law. There are 17 states with medical marijuana (420) laws, while all the millions who have cards are breaking the law according the Federal government.

The Federal and State statutes are more than 70 years old. To put someone away for weed is ridiculous at best, but for life? Are you seriously saying that is a wise and reasonable law?

Constitutionally speaking, it's illegal to render such harmful sentencing.

It's an ILLEGAL, mind-influencing substance, doesn't matter if it's a plant. Why can't the population just stick to coffee and cigarettes?

Making drugs illegal is about as stupid as it was to make alcohol illegal. And it deters as many people as a law against teen-aged masturbation would.

Thanks for proving my hunch. I'd converse with you rationally, but I fear that would like beating my head against a wall.

I wish we would stop wasting our resources on drugs. End the "war on drugs" This Nixon creation has brought rampant racism to our shores and created a ludicrous attack on the poor. We do not need to put people in prison for pot. lets get this lealized and eliminate the profit center for the justice department... and lets release these people. and reduce our prison population by 60%....
