It will cost more for poor people that drive older model cars because they would have to make modifications to their existing cooling system. I have 2 older vehicles that I plan on driving till the wheels fall off. I would have to buy what ever parts are needed and hire a mechanic to install.

Reminds me of when liberals were running around hollering about CFC's making a hole in the ozone layer and how that was going to destroy the world. They finally forced Reagan to ban them.

Then there was the great leaded gas crisis. And of course lead paint, asbestos, PCBs, DDT, you name it. You could make a list a mile long of things the leftists have forced us to ban that we all got along with for years.

From the article:
Quote:
One leading alternative to R-134a — HFO1234YF — can be used in most existing cooling systems without significant modifications.
For a home unit, those insignificant modifications are a new coil and compressor. Last spring I had coils replaces on two of my AC units that could use either coolant and it was $2,400. My other alternative was to live with the slow leak and charge it up every spring. In two years, the cost of the charging would be more than replacing the hardware so I went with a replacement.

I did not think Ronald was ever forced to do anything, they must have forced Amnesty for Illegals on him also eh

Hmmm, how many accounts do you have here? Interesting, think I will have to have a discussion with someone on that, just so you know where it came form, buddy.

I fail to see how curbing greenhouse gases is bad.

Heck, if they did this 30 years earlier I probably wouldn't have asthma right now (which I pay for through inhalers).

Older cars will be grandfathered. Very few vehicles were converted from R-12. Stop whining.

I would need to see proof that any refrigerant, or CO2, or methane, or water vapor, or any other "greenhouse gas" contributes to asthma.
Years ago, evaporative coolers were used in vehicles. However, they add water vapor to the air, so that isn't a good idea either.
Propane is an excellent refrigerant, but, of course, it is explosive.
Here is a list of refrigerants. Note the atmospheric lifespan of each of them. Interesting.
