Yep, a no brainer. However, when "The King" speaks, some bow down...

McArthur wanted to use about 50 nukes on China to pacify the Chinese during the Korean war. Good thing we as a society recognize at generals aren't always right.

And when something goes wrong he will throw those generals under the bus

So, if you're so sure combat troops on the ground in Iraq is a good idea you're surely ready to go and join the fight yourself, eh?

Or should we just tally another La-Z-Boy warrior with nothing on their agenda but whining about Obama?

The Incompetent Obama At Odds With His Generals In The War Against ISIS

You mean the generals who gave us glowing reports about the bang-up job they were doing training the Iraqi Army?

You know, the army that turned and ran away from their fight?

Those Generals?

He's not saying it's a good idea. Like it or not, there is a very good possibility that Obama will have to backtrack, eat his words AND put combative boots on the ground, and he knows this. We have 1700 non-combative troops (wearing boots BTW) on the ground and are being referred to as "advisors". They are US military and ISIS would like nothing better than to kill or capture a few. If these "advisors" are attacked, some killed, some injured, (and I can see it happening) what do you think Obama should do after putting himself in the middle of this mess? Withdraw or put combative troops on the ground?

One has to be willfully ignorant or just plain stupid if they think combative boots on the ground is not a possibility.

Actually - most of "those Generals" aren't around anymore. Obama got rid of them. "Those Generals" did a bang up job of training Iraqi forces to protect their own country, unfortunately - General Obama "cut and ran" - against ALL their advise and allowed Iran to take over Iraq (as predicted) and do their own Purge.

Obama bet all his marbles on the Iranian Axis of Iran/Syria/Maliki in Iraq and Hezbollah in Lebanon. He did this despite all advise from the Traditional Sunni Partners of the USA for decades and his own Generals.

From the flip comments so far -- I'm guessing nobody has bothered to actually read this article. Every day we hear from more Generals, yesterday from Bob Gates (former Sec Defense), from Tom Morrell (former CIA director) and Journalists/Historians who are actually familiar with the issues ..... these people are all in agreement that what Obama is demanding is just not feasible.

He gambled and lost - now he wants to double down.
