The Rockefeller Brothers Fund, a 860 million dollar charitable fund, is joining other funds worth approximately 50 billion dollars in divesting from fossil fuel companies over growing concerns with global warming.

The global warming debate is just like the debate over tobacco, CFCs, apartheid, etc. where conservative groups battle over issues or science long since settled to stall changes to the law and right the wrongs being inflicted. These conservative groups have proven themselves to be on the wrong side of history time and time again. And they are continuing that perfect track record.

Responsible people know the consequences of the settled science of global warming. Deniers are being increasingly marginalized and that's a good thing. Deniers think only in terms of how much it will cost them in the short term to correct the problem ignoring long term costs; those acknowledging global warming know that short term costs to correct the problem will be far less than the long term costs both financially and environmentally.

Sorry, you all credibility with your very biased claim, "Responsible people know the consequences of the settled science of global warming."

So, they know they're killing an industry with their political causes, so they get out while the getting is good?

Calling that moral virtue is a breathtaking level of dishonesty.

Science is never settled and anyone that refuses to acknowledge that might as well accept the earth is flat, the universe revolves around the earth and the universe is contracting.

The usual story from the left. Tell the same lie long enough and some people will actually start to believe it.

That's the dumbest thing I have ever heard. The science is settled (theory of global warming)...like the evidence that germs cause disease (germ theory), that gravity exists (theory of gravity), and that we are made of cells (cell theory). That people still don't believe it, like people believing the world is flat or germs don't cause disease, is not the problem of science or the scientific method.

Things may change, like the Earth is not a sphere but an oblate spheroid do to spin, but as measurements get more accurate people can refine the precision. It's like like one day people are going to discover the Earth is a trapezoid.

If the science is settled, how come the science missed the fact that it warmed less in the last 15 years than it had in the past 30-60?

If the theory is as bulletproof as the theory of gravity, how was that prediction missed by this 97% consensus and all of these nifty computer models?
