Low income childless adults qualify. Marital status has never been a consideration. Now, your state may not have expanded Medicaid, but that is a state choice.

I should move then. Can't do that, no relocation funds.

No. The SCOTUS ruled that states could not be forced to expand Medicaid. TX and several other states sued over the Medicaid provision because the law forced them to expand or lose all Medicaid funding. As it stands, only a couple of southern states have expanded Medicaid.

$20K in the majority of Ohio goes a long way.

If we're talking no wife, kids, mortgage, school loans. He hasn't made those mistakes yet.

I don't know how good the coverage is though. He's 19ish and in the prime of his life with no issues.
