The funding will soon be gone. And so will the Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives. Another "F" on the Bush-Cheney report card...

yep.. and "F" thats for sure... funny how they got into office and were so sure of themselves in implementing all these programs.. because god was seen as on their side... and come to find out.. statistics have gotten worse.... How can our leaders expect to properly educate children, when they aren't properly educated themselves....

I'd give them worse than an "F" -- is there just a thing?

And this program, and several other health initiatives are as worthless as a 3-dollar bill.

I think that abstinence should be taught.. but only... no.. the issues that need to be addressed are not black and white for everyone... and we are dealing with young people who are human and make mistakes... education on all matters relating to sex is essential...whether it be a moral stance at home.. or presentation of facts and figures at school.. or a combination of the two...

They had the arrogance to believe God was on their side and gave no thought to whether they were on God's side, a good recipe for failure.

Abstinence should be taught as AN option but not the ONLY option. They need to realize that most teens aren't going to practice abstinence.

Earlier this year Washington state signed into law a bill that stated:

“every school that offers sexual health education must assure that sexual health education is medically and scientifically accurate, age appropriate, appropriate for students regardless of gender, race, disability status, or sexual orientation, and includes information about abstinence and other methods of preventing unintended pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases. All sexual health information, instruction, and materials must be medically and scientifically accurate. Abstinence may not be taught to the exclusion of other materials and instruction on contraceptives and disease prevention. “

Because of that we are losing out on some Federal “abstinence only” money but I would rather have my children learn “medically and scientifically accurate” health information instead of some narrow-minded education that if you teach abstinence only then that’s what kids will do.

Let’s see:
If you teach kids not to drink they wont drink….
If you teach kids not to drive fast, they wont drive fast….
If you teach kids not to do drugs then they wont do drugs…
If you teach kids to listen and obey, then they wont disobey your orders…
