For what it's worth, the first indicator to me as a republican that conservatives were screwed, was when, upon inauguration in 2001, the Bush Treasury Department pulled the website tracking daily deficit figures.

But I would really like to know where FY 2014 ended up. But having trouble finding the link.

The CBO estimates 492 billion dollars in deficit this year. Interestingly, 411 billion is spent on interest on the national debt for 2014.

Seems like for 2014 almost our entire deficit can be traced to a hand-out to the Chosen Families.

Latest numbers I could find:

"Washington typically records a budget surplus in September and $80 billion or so in black ink is in fact projected for next month. If that occurs as expected, the deficit for all of 2014 will be about $500 billion. That will be more than 26 percent below 2013 and the smallest federal deficit by far since 2008."
