But before you try to float that balloon, you spend your time and energy getting 1000+ federal laws and many times that number of state laws changed so that each and every one, including the judicial precedents, such that civil union is identical to marriage in every way. You do that work, because it is you who care about a word "marriage" more than what it represents. Those who care about what matters, that actual impact of marriage, recognize that the nation's resources are better spent just using the word marriage because that's what same-sex marriage is - marriage.
Could not rep you again. But this is well worded. They ignore that they also forbid us civil unions and domestic partnerships or any union that resembles their marriages. They do not want us to be equal to them, they want to keep us as second class citizens under scrutiny and disdain. I would like to see them put some energy into solving their out of control divorce rate; over 55% for first marriages, over 70% for second ones and so on, divorce has a great impact on their marriages and society, yet allowing same sex couples the same marriage rights will not affect their marriages one iota. My spouse and I of 35 years call our legally bound relationship a marriage, not a civil union, nor do we call it domestically partnered. None of those are recognized by the Feds, just civil marriage, they do not even recognize a church marriage with out a civil marriage license. Only civil marriage is legal and only that affords one the 1049 federal rights associated with legal marriage.

Seriously though, you must know a lot of liberal people. I know a lot of conservative millennialls, and I know liberal ones too. But the ones I know are more conservative. I personally know a lot of younger people in Washington who voted against the gay marriage referendum. You act like almost all millennialls are gay marriage supporters when it couldn't be further from the truth.

I doubt that. And I don't care about the pew research poll or whatever. Especially since barely anybody bothers to reply to these:

Survey bias: How can we trust opinion polls when so few people respond?

And look at North Carolina just 2 years ago. Gay marriage was voted against with only 39% in support. Do you really think only "old people" voted against it in NC? I know for a fact of college age students who voted to protect traditional marriage. I can direct you to the tweets and facebook posts, but I'm sure they want their privacy. Someone on twitter tweeted in support of protecting marriage and many people his age retweeted it and favorited the tweet.

Young people don't vote. Old people do.

LOL gallup is known to be inaccurate.

If this poll was accurate, Romney would have easily won.

Romney 50%, Obama 46% Among Likely Voters

"Romney 50%, Obama 46% Among Likely Voters"

Asking 1000 people out of a country of over 300,000,000 isn't exactly a good indication.

Okay. That doesn't change the demographics of who actually votes in our elections.

"In 2009, Maine voters vetoed an effort by the state legislature to legalize same-sex marriage. But last week, they approved Question 1, which read, simply, “Do you want to allow the State of Maine to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples?” The measure was approved by a vote of 53% v. 47%, in a state that went for Obama by a vote of 56% to 41%. According to exit polls, 61% of female voters supported the measure, as well as 68% of voters ages 18-29. - See more at: http://verdict.justia.com/2012/11/13/an-historic-first#sthash.lQ4XrA3S.dpuf"

VOTERS MORE ACCEPTING OF GAY MARRIAGE

Younger voters were more likely to support the ballot question to legalize gay marriage.

The strongest support was among those under age 29, with 7 in 10 voting for gay marriage. Almost 6 in 10 of those age 30 to 44 voted for the measure. Those over 45 narrowly opposed it, with nearly two-thirds of those 65 and older voting against the measure.

I never said they all were, just the bulk of them are.

Isn't that interesting. Those most in favor are of typical marring age. Those that oppose are almost dead.
