UPR Professor Jaime Benson has written a number of articles in the Puerto Rican newspaper El Vocero (which more or less serves as the GOP mouthpiece on the island) on why the Republican Party needs to evolve with the changing demographics. He says that if we don't change and stop the anti-Hispanic mentality we will become a one party nation ruled by the Democratic Party.

When we constantly attack a language and it's speakers it should come as no surprise that they don't want to to join our party ... even though many of them hold the same beliefs that we do.

Well said, GOP is going to pay for it.

Why do you speak when you don't know jack!!!

Here, maybe this will help you;

What does the citizenship test consist of?
You must know about basic U.S. history and government, and be able to speak, read, and write simple English.

Do I need to be able to speak English to become a U.S. citizen?

Yes, you must be able to read, write, and speak simple English. There are some exceptions for some older and long-time residents, and for some disabled permanent residents.

All the other posters in here who THINK they know about the assimilation of Germans, Italians, Slavs and Asians, don't have a clue! Both my maternal (Italian) and paternal (slavic) ancestors began learning English BEFORE they got here, and were proud to become Americans LEGALLY! The Chinese don't even allow their children to speak anything but English!

There are exceptions to that : elderly people who came as a refugees from wars, people who helped the US, German scientist during WW2 did not need to speak English ( though some of them did) and many other special cases.
