The difference between the U.S. and NK is NK has NO natural resources and back in the 1950s we actually WERE EXACTLY like these 4 steps. Comparing isolationist US to NK is not only mistaken, it's flat out uneducated.
North Korea has significant amounts of coal, iron ore and limestone so it was a major source of steel and coal for the Japanese Empire which ran the place prior to 1945 (Korea was taken from China in a war Japan had with China in 1895). Korean steel and coal where used to build the ships and bombs droped on the Pacific Fleet in Pearl Harbor.
The NWO would never allow it. Their goal is to strip America down and make their money overseas and then have one poor debt ridden planet that answers to them.
You have only one of the rare-Earth elements, and the least useful one at that.
Do you plan on abandoning your 4th Level Economy?
(emphasis mine)
Everyone needs to read and comprehend this gem from Mircea. Read it over and over and over again. Damn near the entire hi-tech world we so dearly love in this country depends on rare-Earth elements that we do not possess in any meaningful quantity if at all. China is the world's current stockpile of rare-Earth metals, and everyone knows it. If you like virtually every tech gadget in your life, and you'd like to keep having it, then accept the fact that we are buddies with China until someone finds all that metal in our own dirt.
If you like your car moving when you press on the gas pedal, then accept the fact that we do not produce enough gasoline to be self-sufficient. And if you want to move to solar power and be all green...yeah, you're back to being nice to China since about 80% of the material that goes into solar cells comes out of China's ground.
For all you tariff seeking morons, please, please, please educate yourself on just the subject of how much hi-tech depends on rare-Earth metal and where most of the world's mined/refined rare-Earth metal comes from.
WE ARE NOT SELF-SUFFICIENT, NEITHER IS JUST ABOUT ANY OTHER NATION. We are better off than most, but we depend on international trade as much, if not more, than most. Not for profit, but for keeping the engine called our economy running.

Actually, there are a considering more than just one rare-Earth element being produced in the US.
China also is not the world's stockpile of rare-Earth elements. The US stopped rare-Earth element production in 2003, but the US still has 14.3 million tons of rare-Earth element oxides reserves as of 2010. China and India lead the world in rare-Earth element production, but that does not mean there are no, or just one, rare-Earth elements in the US.
That would be like saying we import our oil from the middle-east, therefore the US has no oil. Obviously, it is not true.

The US produced 4,000t of rare earth elements in 2013 accounting for about 3.6% of global production. The country's domestic consumption of rare-earth imports in 2013 increased to 10,500t from 5,770t in 2012 making it the third biggest rare earth consumer after China and Japan.
The US is believed to hold 9% of the world's rare earth reserves, estimated at 13mt.
We are the 3rd largest consumer, yet currently produce less than 1/10th what China does, and estimated reserves are less than a quarter what China's are.
Nobody has a higher chunk of the REO reserves than China. Brazil and Russia are the next closest two, and Brazil has around half of what China does.
Point being, the tech world depends a great deal on rare earth ore, and we are dependent on other countries given our consumption, China more than anyone.
By detroy you mean you own a Honda or a toyota and will be forced to buy
A US made car. Ok.
You realize we had better financial health BEFORE globalization right?
Since our economy will go back to being self sufficient I truly doubt we will care about outside tariffs.
It may be tough for a year or so but once US manufacturers return the economy will boom.
You can't even back up your claim.
Our better financial health was due to the fact that the rest of the world was still recovering from a devastating world war and couldn't compete when we had like 90% of the world GDP.
So we could afford to let Joe American make a crappy Ford and buy it from him for stupid prices.
Once the world was able to compete again, crappy american worker complacency and demand for unsustainable lifestyle choices (you think people in Europe have all the living space and nice toys you do?) drove that into the ground.
I won't even address the political worldwide ramifications of your plan that would devastate the U.S. population.

So? The US is the largest consumer of a lot of things, particularly natural resources. We consume somewhere between 20% and 25% of the world's natural resource production. Most of it imported. The does not mean the US is without of those natural resources. It simply means that we are not producing them.
Actually, after China, the Commonwealth of Independent States (which includes Russia) and India are the next two largest producers of REE. Brazil and Malaysia are a nits by comparison.
My point being that we are dependent on other nations for our natural resources because we choose to be dependent. That does not mean we have to be dependent.

So what you are saying is....if we stopped importing these things, we'd have more jobs, and only slightly higher prices?
