Here in NC under Conservative GOP control, lower growth (then rest of nation), lower wages, above average unemployment, an education system looking to go backwards (problem retaining the best teachers), a tax decrease which has caused lower revenue and a 300mill. deficit (with another cut coming in January 2015 only for Corporation).
At the county level Real Estate taxes are about to rise (some counties have already). A cap on how high a county can raise sales taxes,( really capping growth,Nixon tried that if you remember the late 70's).
To top it off the failure to accept the Expanded Medicaid, with the result that rural hospitals are closing or about to close. IT also turns out the ACA is a job creator which the Cons here refuse to move on.
So what does the Conservative GOP do well- nothing.
You need to move to California if you really want to experience EVERYTHING you listed, only on steroids. There hasn't been a conservative bone in California's body for over 3 decades now. You have a great COL, while we have the 2nd worst, worst schools, worst taxes, worst streets and bridges, corrupt law makers, and every year we have billions in newly proposed taxes that are misrepresented by cronies.
And now... they are going to make every registered car owner pay increased registration fees, even after we were taxed for it, to cover Brown's multi billion dollar bullet train boondoggle to fk'n Fresno!

Actually California is not ranked near the bottom in any of the meaningful categories (educational attainment, obesity, poverty, teen pregnancy, social mobility).
