Even for the times, he was a bit of an arrogant fool whose entire endeavor was based on a failure to convert correctly between units. Sure, he dared go against the mainstream - it is just that the mainstream was right and he was completely and utterly wrong. I would have liked to know if he actually ever doubted he'd found Asia.

That being said, meh - celebrate to your heart's content. Stalin will probably have is own day in half a millennium.

How many CEO's have taken advantage of poor people in the 3rd world for decades but they are celebrated.

Our entire history is full of the weak people getting stepped on by others. Sad fact but really, really lame to sit and dwell on it. We are better people now.

Columbus accomplished a great thing, doesn't matter that he doesn't fit the liberal idiot profile of an acceptable person.

By mistake. He didn't prove the naysayers wrong, he just got lucky. His myth is one of a plucky loner who dares speak what he believes in the face of authority and in the event is proven right, and that's just silly.

i've got to say, not as efficient as a gas camp but pretty damn close in morality.

Did you not bother to read anything about this guy?
"This guy?" You are reading too much revisionist history from Leftist Web sites. Where is the documentation? Can you provide any authentic historical documentation?

You probably also believe that the Crusades were Christian extremists seeking to force their religion on the World. Right?

The West African Muslims were involved in the slave trade. Do you also condemn them? Where is the proof that Columbus was involved in the slave trade? Historical documents? Do you have any that you can cite, that are authentic???? Post the links, please. Let's see your sources, so we can examine them.

You probably aren't aware that the Muslims today are still engaged in such slave trade.

"Sounds like?" So, you believe this revisionism too? I want to see proof. What are the sources of this slander of Columbus?

What does "meh" mean?

Where is your documentation about Columbus? Authenticated documentation? Not hearsay, revisionist history. Show us the proof.

Wow, great rebuttal. "It was okay he raped little girls because hey...those were the times. YOLO!" That seriously has to be one of the dumbest things I have ever heard on here, and that's saying something.
