Yes, we were concerned about the detonation of nuclear, biological, and/or chemical weapons. That's what WMDs are. That's why all that info was presented to Congress by the DoD. Not only nuclear weapons capabilities were presented, all 3 of NBC were. That's a matter of fact, not just someone's sketchy recollection.

If the BC part were relevant we would have invaded a decade earlier under Bush I.

Bush Senior knew better to go there, they knew back then what a mess it would result in, unfortunately it seems that Dubya did not talk with his father or he simply ignored the warnings, and now we have the mess we do in the ME.

True. But one briefing is not the end-all. Other data would need to be examined for comprehensive declaration.Congressional Record. Official Federal statements across the period which did last over one year. Even the UN briefings as these were important for obtaining a consensus to invade.

On the 1998 NBC WMD intel specifically cited by the DoD? Nope.

Everyone but you (and a few holdouts still in denial ) KNOWS that the term WMDs has included Nuclear, Biological, and Chemical weapons for decades.

I do not deny WMD means NBC but do still dispute that that usage within the context of the Iraqi invasion. I have stated and still do that invasion was due to the nuclear possibility not chemical or biological. If you do not see that then you were having an entirely different discussion. It seems to me you ignore that part and so this discussion has really not gone anywhere useful.

Not sure why. You've seen the DoD presentation Congress was given, and on which WMD info they voted. It discusses all 3 of Iraq's nuclear, biological, and chemical weapons capabilities.

From an example of recent personal reading I see the United States provided a number of reasons for declaring war on Germany in 1917. Which one predominated then and later in 2002?

Not sure why? Well then your historian instincts need training. Perhaps you are too focused on your views to not the parallels and nuances.

As I also am a boomer, I chose 'All of the Above'. That is, my town had a large AFB, and was surrounded by missile silos. But I'm also aware of the Iraq WMD's, so I understand the recent references. Back early, before the Iraq invasion I knew about the WMD's and even had read in Debka file about evidence of them having been moved.

One must have an historic as well as current frame of reference to understand the conversational inferences.
