This is not news at all if you are already familiar with the benefits provided by Silicon Valley companies.
Other Silicon Valley employers already pay for infertility treatment for their employees, including multiple IVF attempts. Apple and Facebook are just catching up to other local employers by offering this benefit. If there is any news at all, it's the fact that they were not already offering this and not competitive with other employers. And $20k is nothing - a co-worker of mine ran up a $100k bill for seven IVF attempts, all paid for by our company's infertility health benefit.
There are plenty of other employers in other fields that offer this benefit. Bank of America offers this benefit to at least some of their employees, for example.
