So what? He is (or was) 19 years old and responsible for his chosen actions. No ifs, ands, or buts. Fortunately for society, no further issues will present themselves in his case. Actions have consequences. What part of that do you not understand? Are you of low IQ also?

My 8 y.o. understands the difference between good choices and bad choices. She also understands the differences between reasons and excuses for outcomes. Why can't you?

I never made that argument

In fact if they are in prison, and not jail, then the courts have determined they arent too stupid, to be immune from the laws.

Not true at all.

Governments TAKE MONEY from the citizens. It's a MASSIVE BEAST with undying thirst and power.

Statistically, in the free market system a company like THIS will go out of business and that's that.

Just look at the VA. NOTHING IS RESOLVED YET.

Government is NEVER EVER EVER EVER the solution except for necessary military/safety defense.

I assume YOU "make money". too? Are you employed?

Prison sentences for most crimes are too long in the US to begin with and don't get me started on the war on drugs....

We live in this County and are horrified by what has happened. My DH was a Corrections Officer for the US Army and had custody & control over so many inmates that he personally could not stand (Akbar for one; murderers, sex offenders, deserters). My DH's professionalism and personal integrity insured that inmates were treated like human beings because my DH is not a person of low moral character.

The way we treat our inmates says more about ourselves than it does the inmates; we are supposed to be better than those we incarcerate.

The bottom line is if you make the choice to steal you make the choice to go to jail.
Jail is not supposed to be a vacation, it is supposed to be punishment but there are many in jail who have better
health care, food and resources for help and education than those who have not committed a crime, are working but cannot afford health care, insurance and proper food for their families.
The big one wasn't stealing the DVD's but passing the counterfeit $100 bill.
