Socialist party defends paying $13 hour an hour while calling for much higher minimum wage - The Dori Monson Show - MyNorthwest.com

Seattle socialists have been pushing for a $15/hr minimum wage, but the real goal is closer to $20/hr as even movement leader and self-described 'Marxist' Kshama Sawant has stated. She has said that $15 is just a nice round number that appears attainable right now, but that she has bigger and better goals in mind. Hey...good for her, she is willing to embrace the reductio ad absurdum that liberals would so often shy away from.

They are really undermining themselves here though. If a young programmer could get a $13/hr job as a web designer at the Freedom Socialist (oxymoron much?) party, and do a good job, he/she could probably rise up through the ranks and end up with a nice paying career. If the $20/hr minimum wage were to be imposed, the position would never be offered, and the young programmer might end up on food stamps and SSD.

From that link:

"Workers create the profits, they create the wealth," she insists. "We deserve all of it. We deserve to be able to share it with society."

YET they don't want to own the business. And they exempt themselves.

I'd love to see people like this move to China or Cuba to experience communism first hand.

Hippies, anarchists - cut from the same lazy, useless cloth

they add no value, yet expect to be provided for.

Strawman.

How is a living wage communism?

$20 / hour is about what minimum wage would be if it kept up with productivity.

Well the hypocrites fighting for $20/hour are only offering $13/hour for an employee.

Right-wingers would prefer that money go into the offshore accounts of the 1%.

just as all of the gains should not go to the top, all of the gains should not go to the bottom. $20/hr is unreasonable based upon your definition. Of course $10.10 is reasonable, even a argument for $15 is not completely unreasonable. But $20 is not reasonable.

LOL...Liberal hypocrisy, again. Lefties wouldn't have any standards if they didn't have double standards.

I'll go work at McD's for $20/hour.

29 hours a week and I can make near $31K a year.
Almost as good as entry level salary for a college graduate who would need to work 40-60 hours a week.

Bring it on libs....

LOL. Do note-I stated $20 was unreasonable. And $15 while not completely unreasonable I dont think is viable either, but $10.10 or even $11 should absolutely be done. In which case....

Enjoy your 22K/year income @ 40 hours.
