Especially poignant piece and, dare I say it, spot-on.

Haven't listened regularly to Limbaugh for a couple of years... however, one of his undeniable truths of life.

The world is governed by the aggressive use of force.

Force wins... or at minimum, the threat of use of force.

The Arabs could not defend themselves from these thugs.

The Authur specifies this as an Arab issue but many countries that have a sizable Muslim population, from central Africa, to Russia, to Indonesia, and China have been having similar problems.

Is it just Islam

its a sad fact.... and it is a fact that can only be denied by being unwilling to face reality.

Until the rest of the world comes to the conclusion that the only answer here is to invade these nations, set up governments that are free and utterly non-islamic in nature, and give all people the freedom to choose thier own faith....and then stay their for 3 or 4 generations until the populations become stable and committed to freedom, we will have to fight with this stuff.

the sad fact is, we will not come to this conclusion in the west. at least not until our cities are burning down around us and by then it just might be too late.

It's the radicalization of Islam made easier by socio-economic conditions in those countries. Wahhabism and other forms religious radicalization is much more attractive to the poor and disenfranchised regardless of where they are. Arab countries, save for a few spots are dominated by a very rich elite class and populated by a lot of very poor, very destitute people. Furthermore, a lot of the more backward and repressive ideas that we conflate with muslim culture is really Arab tribal culture.

Darn good article. Chilling to read such a well-done summary. Thanks.

"very rich elite class and populated by a lot of very poor"
Yes, and some of the very rich, Bin Laden and similar, fund the poor idiots who sacrifice themselves.

Arab civilization collapsed more then 500 years ago.

What they have now was a quick civilization in a backwards part of the world, and its why "kings" and dictators are needed to keep the place running.

This isn't some new phenomena.

To quote Syriana, "You know what corporate America thinks of you, 50 years ago you were running around the desert cutting one anothers heads off, and you'll be doing it again in 50 years." Something to that effect.
