The banks paid it back with interest. Are you saying the money should have been handed out to main street Americans? You sound more and more left every time you open your mouth.

LOL, its a tad more complicated then that, there were a ton of stealth bailouts via tax changes as well. Then we used QE to inflate the values of stocks effectively.

That being said, in the main you are correct, TARP has been paid back, something much easier to do when QE inflates your stock....and you get large tax breaks....so...you're also kind of wrong as well.

Im ok with this argument! Blaming a president often hides those who are responsible, Of course you are cherry picking a vote on tarp, which was widely sen as necessary, and passed with large bi partisan support.

How about the minimum wage vote? The last one 100% of democrats voted for....and 2% of republicans.

I too can cherry pick specific votes.

In the end....I think its a bi partisan effort to increase inequality. A particularly damning opinion.

It was passed after the nation had been forced to watch the admin officials (Bush & Paulson) screaming hysterically and calming there will be food riots if the bill is not passed. Also, as soon as the money was authorized they used it for purposed other than what they said they would use it for.

A slim majority in the US and super majority in several European countries cited inequality.

Pew goes on to explain it's the gap between rich and poor. Wealth?

bi partisan does not require everyone to vote for something. You know that right?

91 Republicans joined in that vote helping the democrats pass it in a bi-partisan vote. The majority of Republicans voted for it.

Quote:
3) TARP was bipartisan. More Democrats voted for it than Republicans in both chambers, but the level of bipartisanship in the TARP vote was pretty much unprecedented for such a controversial piece of legislation. In the House, 171 Democrats and 91 Republicans voted for it. In the Senate 40 Democrats, 33 Republicans and 1 Independent voted for it. See the full roll call details here — Senate and House.
