Alaska Congressman Don Young was speaking at a Wasilla High School. He blamed suicide on lack of support from family and friends, and compared Gay Marriage to two Bulls

Quote:
During the school gathering, teacher Carla Swick asked Young what his office was doing to combat teen suicide and the Congressman "said suicide shows a lack of support from friends and family," attendees told the Alaska Dispatch News.

"You can't have marriage with two men. What do you get with two bulls?" Young told a student who asked about the Congressman's opposition to same sex marriage.

I have no idea what people expect a Congressman to do about teen suicide. Bring federal money home to support public mental/emotional healthcare?

Nothing prevents Alaska from taxing its own people for more/better public mental/emotional healthcare facilities and the whole Crystal Meth thing, should they deem it appropriate.

This politician could have however, handled the situation with more tact.

LOTS of possible responses about ecouraging anti bully programs, and counseling comes to mind...

But the usual "blame the victims and everyone around them" response instead. I suspect the kids are learning a lesson about politicians they will not soon forget.
