Good grief! Why do people have kids they can't afford??!!!!

More leeches. This is why NYers, especially living in the city pay obscene amounts of taxes!

No kidding. If you can't pay even $5 to prepare a week's worth of peanut butter sandwiches, an apple, and cheese on a cracker for your kids, they should probably just be taken from you. Isn't that how nature judges a parent to be fit? If they can't even feed their kids, they're basically a complete failure and the kid will be better elsewhere.

they already get free lunch, this is about breakfast too. And the debate was that not enough students get free breakfast giving others an unfair advantage - and how all kids need to start on a level playing field

Indeed.

If you can't feed them, don't breed them.

MOARE!

Dinner At School: More Public Schools Dish Up 3 Meals A Day

The Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act, signed into law by President Barack Obama in December 2010, provides federal funds for the after-school dinner program in areas where at least half the students qualify for free or reduced price lunches.

I agree with the idea of feeding your own kid....on YOUR dime!

What if you were able to afford them before, but can't now?

I like the idea that in this country, kids won't go hungry. Being the richest nation on Earth, your attitude is appalling that you want kids to starve

Maybe they could afford them before? Or are you assuming that every single kid that qualifies for free or reduced meals have parents that have been on food stamps their entire life?

Again, if you can't afford $5 a week to feed your kids a gd lunch, then you're truly a failure as a parent. Yes it's harsh, but it's true.

What if you were able to afford it a couple weeks ago, but now longer can't? Now what?

Can't afford $5 a week? Are you serious? Then the kids should be taken away and put into foster care, because the parents are obviously unfit to provide for their children. When they can make lunch for their kids, they can come back.

So you think the state should take a family's kids away because the father got into a car accident and is no longer able to work? Or how about the mother that was downsized at the office and can't find a job within one week?
