Now Muslims in America are demanding that food banks provide food that abide by Islamic sharia law, not just not including pork but being prayed over by an Islamic sheikh. There are also stories of Muslim business owners banning people with guide dogs because dogs are "unclean" in Islamic culture. There are also many Muslims who refuse to use alcohol based hand sanitizer and Muslims in Britain have demanded that KFC there stop providing alcohol based hand wipes because that insults Islam.
Sorry, if you are getting it for free you really don't have a choice. Eat or starve.
Really? What "crazy orthodoxy" does the religious right seek to impose on people? I can't think of anything. I mean sure the religious right opposes gay marriage and abortion, but those are societal issues in general, not religious orthodoxy.
Okay - 1 - you can't label religious orthodoxy and rules set forth by a supreme spaghetti monster in the sky as "societal". gay marriage and abortion are only issues because of religion. they aren't "society" issues. WTF does anyone care what Debra does with Debra (or to the fetus) if it wasn't for some belief in God?
1) restrictions on sex, as well as contraception and birth control
2)restrictions on alcohol consumption
3) restrictions on drug use and consumption
4) promotion of their religion in public spaces, schools, etc
5) womans rights restrictions
6) persons ability to choose who they marry
7)what days i fricken' can buy booze
the list goes on, for a long time
we have spent more fighting (and losing) to restrict the rights of our fellow citizens who want to marry than EVER this freaking pantry could spend on buying halal food.

At least they aren't cutting off peoples heads to make the rest of us to do what they want....

You do realize these people fighting for their special food also would the same list of demands that you are so outraged over.
Go ahead and call Mohammed a supreme spaghetti monster in the sky and see where it gets you.
So, should we start shut down every Kosher food bank?
What about those f'n diabetics? its their fault (at least type 2) anyway. F' their splenda
Seriously, if a food bank can support the requests for the society they support, what is it any skin off anyone back?
Again, if you are getting a handout either take it or don't , it's quite simple. IF it is possible to provide for others then sure , by all means do it. Being demanded to provide a certain choice is just wrong.
And why bring up diabetics ? There is a huge difference between a medical issue and religious.
This story is exaggerated. These people are not demanding but requesting it. Part of the issue is that some were given beans with pork, and they are now learning English. http://minnesota.cbslocal.com/2014/0...rk-food-shelf/
Though neither Muslim or Jewish, I do not eat unclean foods for religious reasons. More importantly, however, the Muslim community and perhaps even other religious communities with similar dietary restrictions should make an effort to provide such products for these immigrants.
They, like all the rest of the unfortunates, that need food banks can demand anything they want. That does not mean they will get it. Remember "beggars cannot be choosers".
Your so right. I have friends who are really upset by all that is going on these days, they say the world is so very unsafe more then ever.
They think if you do not give in to these Muslims and food banks, will they be pissed off enough, to get even. I am not going to give them any thought at all. Beggers these days no matter who they are, believe they are owed.
