So more and more things are from China now. Not just your cell phones and laptops.

BOSTON (AP) - A Chinese government-owned rail company was awarded a $566.6 million Massachusetts state contract on Wednesday to build subway trains for the "T," the nation's oldest subway system, despite concerns from local activists about China's human rights record as well as complaints from competitors that the company's winning bid was unrealistically low.

How many companies in the US make subway cars? I know there is only one company in the US making streetcars. It appears their old subway car stock came from a German company. Maybe if we had a company that built subway cars in the US, cities wouldn't have to look to other countries to supply the country with subway cars.

Chinese owned but the cars will be made in Massachusetts. If Massachusetts bought the cars from Bombardier (a large subway/rail car manufacturer) the cars would be built in Canada,

"CNR MA has pledged to build the subway cars at a new, $60 million factory in Springfield that would become its U.S. headquarters. The 150,000-square-foot facility, proposed on the 40-acre former Westinghouse Electric plant site, is expected to create over 250 new manufacturing and construction jobs for the western Massachusetts region."

Not surprising since China has a super new high-speed rail system and its high speed trains are state of the art.

Kind of, sort of related and not related, but a Chinese wind turbine firm is moving their headquarters here in Fort Worth.

Fort Worth picked to be HQ for Chinese wind turbine firm | Business | Dallas Business, T...

I don't know about you, but I'd rather have businesses and compaines coming TO America instead of leaving it, regardless of what it is...

Who cares? We're all part of the "integrated global economy".
