I have found that in general, open forums tend to lean left. Of course there are forums specifically geared to the right or left, but I'm talking just general forums with no specific mission statement. So far, in my short time here, I have found a goodly portion of posters here seem to be conservative, but more seem to be liberal.
Why is this? There are probably lots of factors involved, but I'm guessing that part of it has to do with the fact that right-wingers are generally productive members of society, so they have less time to surf the web and post on message boards. Also, left wingers are often much more vocal about their issues, while right wingers are generally more content to just live their lives and as long as they are not directly being bothered, they don't like to bother anyone else.
Of course, there are exceptions; I am speaking in very broad generalizations, but I still think these ideas do explain my observations.
Interesting concept, conservatives are too busy being productive while liberals have little more to do than complain and post. Let's see, looks like you've just slammed every single poster with a post count in the 100's or more. And the posters with over 1,000 postings, GET TO WORK!
The number of posters on these boards is large enough to achieve a normal distribution at least in terms of education and politics, although I'm not sure about income.

I think the general observation is kinda correct.
It isn't that liberals aren't working so they have plenty of time to post (though in any random circumstance, I would wager a weeks pay that any given liberal is more likely to be unemployed as any given conservative), as much as it is liberals tend to be more vocal about being liberal than conservatives are about being conservative.
It's along the same lines as the "...as a black man" phenomenon, where the most benign, simple actions in life suddenly become infused with imaginary meaning "...as a liberal" - thus you always know who the liberals are, since they never cease to remind you every chance they get.
The world of internet discussion, in general, leans libertarian, even though most of its participants still vote traditional party lines.
Yeah, this forum leaning libertariun is reflected in that the majority of the participants feel than marijuana should be legal. In general, most Americans do not feel this way.

Maybe it has more to do with left-wingers being more literate, educated, and more likely to know how to turn on a computer.
ask the same ? about the moderators. personally I think they lean way \\\\\\left.
From your perspective, that would probably be correct, but per my neighbors and the DMs, seems doubtful.
