It's pretty obvious to anyone who thinks about it for more than two seconds that there are some problems with the idea. Specifically, the idea that the government can do whatever it wants to anyone regardless of constitutional protections by just declaring that the victim isn't a citizen anymore for [arbitrary cause of the day].

Thanks for approving of isis...
nidal hasan has requested to become part of isis.....way to show your colors....
I guess you also agree that those people who were killed, needed to be killed.....when hasan pulled the trigger.....
Why would this bill be needed? Why is existing law inadequate? I think that running this bill through the judiciary committee and hashing out the issues there is a *much* better idea than passing something in haste and repenting at leisure. Surely the patriot act would have benefited from taking a deep breath and thinking things through.
The bill isn't needed, a faction on the right just wants to play a little politics. Cruz's bill is unconstitutional, Boehner himself said it best in the NYT article.

No need to respond, you have chosen your way....
If you are not able to come up with a more rational rebuttal than this you should just turn the computer off and walk away. Acknowledging that the government can't discard the rights of even the least worthy is not a support for any group that would think the same way.

Yes, I have chosen my way. I much prefer the US constitution over the ISIS warlords.
I like legislative debate, and I think that a bill with such serious consequences needs to be thoroughly analyzed and vetted in the public arena. Fortunately, plenty of people agree with me, from both sides of the legislative aisle.
The Washington Times article mentions that a similar measure was introduced in 2010 by Joe Lieberman and Scott Brown, but failed to mention that Republicans had objected. So they have changed their minds?
"Several Republican officials, though, were skeptical of the idea. Representative John A. Boehner of Ohio, the Republican leader, questioned the constitutionality of the proposal.
“If they are a U.S. citizen, until they are convicted of some crime, I don’t see how you would attempt to take their citizenship away,” Mr. Boehner said. “That would be pretty difficult under the U.S. Constitution.”
Has there ever been a time in your life that you changed your opinion on something because of certain events?
Given the events fro 2010 to now, events may have swayed those who thought it was not needed then, is needed today? Things have gotten progressively worse in the past 4 years. There are many US citizens have dual citizenship or citizenship from another country and hold a US green card. Take the citizenship/green card away and send them back to the country that they hold a passport for. If there is no option, put them in jail for life. All of this would certainly be a deterrent.
Besides, Obama is judge and jury for US citizens who are on the opposite side living in another country. He has no compunction dropping a drone on a US citizen target and take innocent people out along with the target.

Apparently it has been acknowledged that government to give rights to those that are the most unworthy of said "rights" by the mere fact that they are illegally in the US is somehow "constitutional".
