We need a full court press which includes going after Hollywood and their never ending parade of violent movies and video games.
There is a movie I just saw called " Rampage: Capital Punishment " if it was a book it would be a text book of radical Americans call to jihad If ever there is a movie to incite someone with radical ideas to take action this would be it.
I haven't read all twelve pages on this thread on this latest in a long line of school shooting tragedies.
Teenagers are full of drama about many things, and especially about relationships. They often think they are madly in love with someone, and will die if they can't be with them. It's crushing to them when they are rejected by the object of their affection which is sometimes more of an obsession.
It's up to the parents to keep an eye on their children. Keep the lines of communication open. Know what's going on with them in general.
I gather the shooter's father is a Federal Law Enforcement agent, and the weapon used in the shooting was his service weapon. He should know better and store his weapon where no one but himself can have access to it. No one, period. It is 100% his responsibility to know where that weapon is 100% of the time.

Violent movies and video games do not cause someone rational to act like this. And people who do this are not rational. They have a mental illness which needs to be treated.

They don't all belong in a psycho ward Many just need therapy and medication. The problem is parents not recognizing what is going on with their kids. No one wakes up one morning and just decides to kill people.

Your correct. It may be that no parent wants to believe it's their child that would actually do something like this.
I know people are going to complain about guns, but this is really a personal issue. I don't get it. For anyone reading this, any teen or kid in particular: life is not over at 14. Things get better, they really do. If you are thinking of hurting yourself or someone else tell a teacher, a parent, a coach, a big brother, or anyone you trust. Don't go hurting yourself or someone else, it's really never worth it.

It's a stigma about mental illness and many are ashamed to seek help. You can see it here by some of the posts. Actually, many don't even realize they need help, they just feel isolated and different.
