Sounds idiotic to me. Lets not hurt their feelings.

My sons league has a "skunk"rule, where if the score goes up by 5 TD or more, the game is just over. I feel like that rule isn't great, but its certainly not a fine.

If you dig deeper you'll find the following...

League responds to 8-year-old's $500 touchdown - WSMV Channel 4

Excerpt...

Quote:
The Gwinnett Football League president said that's not the truth.

Erik Richards said the team made a mockery of the game by laying on the ground, running off the field and mocking the other players. Richards said in essence, they showed unsportsmanlike conduct.

Richards said the fine for violating the mercy rule is $100. In some cases, Richards said the fine will be waived if it is a defensive play, similar to the play that was scored. Richards said he is glad that the media covered what happened because he wants it to be an example for other teams who he said show unsportsmanlike conduct, that they will be fined.

This is a good example of selective editing by the Washington Post and USA Today by not giving the league president one word in the league's defense in those articles. Bad on them.

The point is it's silly to have a fine for kids football.

First team that gets to a 32 point spread.......... Game Over, go home.

Kids in Baseball have a 10 run rule forever.

Unsportsmanlike Conduct..... Throw the kid or the coach out of the game.

Or, in this case, forfeit the win. Apparently the entire team exhibited unsportsmanlike behavior.

I agree that there should be no fine. A fine teaches the kid nothing.

The team with the most fines is the team most respected.

Go for the fines!

It's like going for the gold (inversely).

A true fiat of . . .

A true feet of . . .

It's so Orwellian.

A perfect example of the lazy sh*tty excuse for reporting that we have today.

The problem is probably the parents in the stands. Cancel the game and the Refs get assaulted.

Fine the team and it's done after the fact.

Should he stopped at the 1 yard line and dropped the ball?

Why don't they use a little logic and just say "Game Over" like they do in baseball?
They are turning our boys into a bunch of sissies. Give them all a trophy and send them home.

Bunch of freakin wussies. Not the kids, the freakin parents. Everyone needs to play nice and we're winners.

Thank goodness some colleges still play to win!!!

Today Texas Christian University 82 TXTech 27

I guess someone forgot to tell TCU they needed to give the other team a chance!

Congratulations to Trevone Boykin who threw a school-record seven touchdown passes and No. 10 TCU showcased a new fast-paced offense by scoring the most points in its history in an 82-27 rout of Texas Tech on Saturday.

480 yards passing!!!
