His first name is Thom. Sounds like she made a mistake by using his first name and not just his last. Did you even see that Thom Tillis is white??? How could this possibly be racist? Look up the term and read.
Okay, then explain why she put "Uncle" in front of it.
No one has a logical explanation for the Uncle Tom comment...therefore failure on the left.
What explanation does there need to be? You're missing the point of WHAT it means and WHO and WHY it offends some.
"Uncle Tom" is something thrown at black men and women who are complete sellouts and self-hating. An Uncle Tom is a black person who will suck up to and bend over backwards for whites ore even people of other races, but wont do the same for other blacks.
Regardless of why a white person is calling another white person an "Uncle Tom", it still doesn't get rid of what it means and who it's for. The fact that a white person is calling another white person something that's insulting (but not really derogatory) towards blacks is dumb.
Using this to make a thread just to back your own personal political beliefs while totally disregarding everything "Uncle Tom" means and who it's meant for is even dumber.

JJG, if someone called you an Uncle Tom how would that term make you feel? A black Democratic candidate, Adams, called a white Republican candidate Uncle Tom.
Is that term OK for use by anyone in your opinion? Is it acceptable for politicians to use? If not, are Democrats exempt? That was the original question.

She said it to be provacative. I don't really care if it doesn't apply. As I said before, true liberals are like monkeys tossing feces. They will swear it doesn't stink if they are the ones throwing the poo.
Depends on what the context it is being used in, though again, not sure what this has to do with race.
You are right. This has nothing to do with race. Everyone randomly calls people Uncle Tom during campaign functions. The context Ms. Adams used it in was incorrect but she deliberately used the phrase none the less.

Then the reason for her to use the term is just confusing and kind of pointless. Heck, maybe she doesn't know what the term means.
It pains me to say it but she cannot possibly be that uninformed and or stupid.
Maybe she is, I have seen plenty of stupid politicians in my life. I remember once a politician saying that his own facts were not intended to be factual information, and this man was actually serving in Congress. So yes, it doesn't surprise me that there are morons running for office and winning elections.
