With fading time and clout, Bush focuses his efforts on several lingering issues

President Bush's final-year agenda is a stripped-down list of what he can realistically hope to get done, since the clout he once touted is fading away.

Bush will venture to four other continents, get more involved than ever in trying to forge Middle East peace, and continue to command two wars that assure his relevancy to the end. As Iraq improves, he must now deal with renewed violence in Afghanistan and upheaval in Pakistan.

More involved than ever? What's that supposed to mean? Where's the list of Bush initiatives that tried to forge Middle East peace? There haven't been any. He basically walked away from the whole situation from the get-go, telling Israel to go ahead and do whatever it felt it needed to do and that the US would back them up if they ever got into any real trouble over it. Are we supposed to count invading Iraq? Are we supposed to count touting the Blessings of Democracy in the Palestinian territories, then slapping embargos on them when (just as had been predicted) people he didn't like got elected? Are we supposed to count opposing calls for an Israeli cease-fire in Lebanon? Even the opportunities presented by the death of Yassir Arafat went right over Bush's head and slipped right through his fingers. More involved that ever? This just sounds like another dose of pro-Bush media bias to me...
