"People who don't go to church give less to church" is a much less interesting relationship.

Irrelevant. The fact of the matter is, the money that runs that megachurch's Aviation Division is considered "charitable giving" in the statistics cited here. And I, for one, have a problem with calling that charity. Yer, it's an extreme example, but there is no lack of churches taking very good care of themselves first before the needy gets their cut.

Your are right, it's not relevant....show me where it says giving to the church is mandated.

Who cares if it's mandated? Donating to the local social club's donut fund or new A/C isn't the same as giving to support homeless people.

I did not say it...one of your supporters stated that it WAS MANDATED to give to a church....I want to see where it says it's mandated....

What on Earth did I type that could be construed as that?

It's pretty simple: If conservatives want to bask in the glory of their charitable going, they should at least acknowledge that a good chunk of those donations are directed at churches, and that a good number of churches use those funds on things having nothing to do with charity.

Switch a couple words and that sounds like the global warming debate.

"If our political leaders are to be always a lot of political merchants, they will supply any demand we may create. All we have to do is to establish a steady demand for good government."
