Strange. How does one explain the gargantuan current account deficit the US running? Could it be the fact that Still-Communist China is willing to lend Uncle Sam the bucks to keep spending?

But in the end, I reckon the world would get along without America's money in the same way America would get along without the world's oil.

Greedy Canadians? Are they greedy because we keep buying their oil?

A nice sentiment, though. Ain't gonna happen.

Canada is the leading *exporter* of oil to the US. Hence the strong loonie. A situation unlikely to change soon. Too bad for you.

America, love it or leave it. While there's plenty of things in our country that need fixing, overall for me, there is no better. From a purely materialistic point of view, I have nearly everything I want in life for a very comfortable existence. I am thankfull for living in America and would never live anywhere else. But I do fear that the America we have known and loved over decades past is slowly slipping away and I am very concerned. I do wish America would become more isolationist. I would welcome decoupling ourselves from many of the problems of the world, especially giving money and resources to ungrateful third world countries and the UN who have nothing but contempt for us and just want a 'free' handout.

This is kind of general reaction that has caused us to lose our global credibility and leadership standing around the world in recent years. This guy is from Canada, a neighbor and ally, and he is stating thoughts that are shared by most people and countries around the world.

Maybe instead of getting so defensive we should take some of it into consideration and ask why nobody else connects 9/11 and Iraq... as 25% of our nation loves to continue to attempt to do. Let's face it, nobody would have gotten behind Iraq - if 9/11 had not occurred. It was all about emotion and payback, and those feelings were exploited by our government to land us where we are today.

And American news is pretty ridiculous. I am sick of the stupid senationalist coverage also.

By truly loving your country you can admit issues where they exist. Sure Canada has issues too, but it is funny how American travellers around the globe now say they are Canadian to avoid being treated badly in other countries. What a difference from right after 9/11, when the world was behind us.

If Canada fell off the face of the earth, no one would care. Seriously, Sag, how is the Iraq War a failure? Have we lost the war? That's news to me....

The economy is not controlled by president Bush anymore than it was controlled by Clinton. Free Markets do that. The Internet crash was taking place by early 2000, before the election even began. Unlike the 2004 ads, Bush will not end the presidency with less jobs than he came in.

What has Canada done for Human Rights other than wine and dine some of the worlds most notorious war criminals? I don't see the socialist axis doing anything about Darfur,Congo,Burma, etc. So much for human rights. Quick, which country was airlifting food and medicine to Tusamni victims within 24-hrs of the flood? Oh, that's right, the US.

Also, as for Indians, how's the "First Nations" people doing? Still living in violent and drug-addled reservations? Nice...Too bad the Canadian educational system didn't teach you we don't have slaves anymore. Score one for being "educated". (seriously, more slaves went to Latin America than the US by 10 to 1, explain how they get a free pass?)

As is about that same percentage of the American public. And it's not like he hasn't done anything to earn that scorn.

Or maybe you're now living a nightmare world where 75% of Americans have become leftists.

Moyers' PBS documentary "Buying the War" is a really good watch too. You can view it online. Be sure to have an hour+ to watch it.

Another very good documentary on the war in Iraq is Why We Fight. An excellent account of how the military-industrial complex benefits at the expense of the rest of America. President Eisenhower was so right. It's a real shame that we didn't listen to him and in our ignorance we let the fearmongers take over.

Popularity != Correct. During the 1920's, fascism was the "Wave of the Future". During the 1930's, it was believed the USSR offered a better way of life. Tell me, where are these two systems today. Who defeated them?

Wanting to stay in Iraq has less to do with weither it was right then the fact that we are there and have a moral obligation to finish what we start. Responsible nations amend their errors and complete their promises, to which we've made many to the people of Iraq.

It's over and done with. Move on.

Like the CBC, BBC, et al never get ridiculous.

And what does that say about other countires who choose to presecute a group of people for only their nationality? Maybe you people should stop preaching to us on how your so "tolerant".

Debateable. Most of the third-world nations we **** on all the time have shown more support for us than the Western world. How many Parisan or London firefighters offered their services for Ground Zero?
