Yes ,if the media in the west were not biased and had no prejudice against muslims. they would have reported the number of muslims who died or were killed fighting these radicals and they have been fighting them for years, way before the west even heard of these people.

It also would have been nice if the west stops meddling in these countries internal affairs, for oil, for economic control, military interest ?
If the people of the west "democracies" could stand up and ask their government to stop funding the terrorist group for regime change.
We don't like the consequences but we do nothing to solve the motives behind these conflicts.
Yes, the people that the OP is referring to are disgusting animals. Still, not our country and not our problem. If you are really bothered, buy a rifle and a plane ticket and go fight them.
That's what Boko Haram believes. That's not what most Muslims believe however(including Muslims that are being killed by Boko Haram). However it doesn't really matter, people can use ancient religious texts written by delusional prophets in the desert over a thousand years ago to justify or denounce whatever they want. My point was that protests or speaking out wouldn't have mattered much against militias killing people or chopping off limbs or using abducted children as solidiers in Liberia or Sierra Leone or Algeria or Rwanda or the Congo or South Africa over the years--so why would Boko Haram suddenly care?
It's hard to have a discussion on anything in that region on this forum, because many people on here can't discuss anything beyond, "Muslims bad!". When in reality there's often players who are looking more cynically at the situation. No one on here seems to question why the Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan(a Christian) doesn't do more about Boko Haram--though perhaps he's waiting for it to get worse so he can get some more foreign anti-terrorist aid.
The same reason why India and Pakistan were partitioned. The same reason why The Philippines will probably give the Muslims an autonomous state in the near future. Everybody is trying to prevent their nation from becoming Yugoslavia?
