Incorrect. Say what you will about my perspective, but while yours is exceedingly self-motivated, mine is fastidiously focused on what's good for those most vulnerable in society. That's one reality you're never going to be able to dodge: You support antisocial self-motivation. I support social conscience and civic responsibility.

Coming from you that means nothing. Your ridiculous comment sounds desperate.

Scream that their wages got adjusted for inflation, even though they get millions in bonuses every year?

I guess Gay marriage is the only thing that the majority should get to vote on...even though the majority support that too now.

so is the 73% a poll or was 100% of all working Americans polled?

if you go by the poll method, i can do a poll that would say that 90% of all Americans want to get rid of the 16th Amendment, get rid of the IRS and get rid of all federal and state gun control laws.

1...75% of all workers, work for small business

2....small business mostly work on a small tiny profit margin...1%-10%

3. can big corporations afford to give these raises.....yes and no....remember only 25% of American workers, work for big corporations...and only 1-3% of all workers earn at or near min wage

4. lets look at the ''big corporations'' that everyone is lashing out at:
raising min wage will be the death blow to an already hurting brick and mortar retail industry

walmart declining sales
kmart/sears..declining sales
target declining sales
mcdonalds declining sales
burger king declining sales
macy's inc...formerly federated depoartment stores inc...owner of macy's, bloomingdales, Jordan marsh, daytons, kaufmanns , may department stores, until2006 david bridal, until 2006 lord&taylor, hechts , filenes of boston, former a&s, and sterns, and a dozen others.....declining sales

brick and mortar stores are hurting because of online sales and not so clean stores, and poor selection...

raising the min wage to anything above $8 would be a downer for these retail giants, and an outright killer of the mom and pop stores that already cant compete with the bigbox store and e-commerce

not to mention this will also hurt the food stores.....too many are already hurting

5. raising the min wage, isn't going to raise your buying power:
a. taxes:
1 raises will lower their allowable deductions at tax time...especially the EIC, and medical deduction...they will get less back from EIC
2 medical coverage subsidies will be lower, meaning higher out of pocket costs to them
raise the min wage they will be in a higher tax bracket....they will have LESS to write of in medical costs (ie medical costs are minus 7% of your gross income...you income goes up the less you will be able to writeoff)
3 they will have less to writeoff in education costs....again you have to pay/claim the first percentage of your gross
4. it will put them in a higher tax bracket or higher within a tax bracket

b. your cost of health insurance will go up as it is based on percentages of income

c. your stipend of obamacare will be less...you are after all making more...

d. and yes prices/cost will go up...maybe not my much, but prices on everything/service will not cost more...this includes rent/utilities, car insurance, medical insurance, groceries, clothes

there are no winners by raising the min wage...only entities getting any benefit is the irs and unon bosses

but liberals don't care...""damn the torpedo's full steam ahead with our socialist agenda"""
You do not think the reason that these places are suffering is because people do not have money to spend? If people are not getting paid much who is going to spend money at these places?

I've never seen 73 percent of Americans wanting a higher min. wage. The danger in voting away other people's money is that eventually it will be you that pays for something somebody else thinks is a great idea.

If you wanted to focus whats good for the most vulnerable in society, you'd be opposed to welfare programs and others which perpetuate poverty and would support the creation of programs which produce jobs in these neighborhoods..

But you cant do that, that would be a Republican idea, its so much better to let them live in squatters killing each other.. yeah, your such a fantastic fellow..

Supply & demand....

Here in this city, it didn't take a law to increase minimum wage that an employer was willing to hire someone with no skills what so ever. It took employers not finding anyone to fill the vacancies, to raise their own minimum starting wage.
Minimum wage here is $7.25. No one will even apply for the job at that wage. Not even the illegal aliens.

To get hamburger flippers and bus boys, they are offering $10-$11 to start.
We didn't need a law. The free market figured it out.

I don't know what Walmart pays here, but McDonalds on this side of town pays $9.50 to $10.50 per hour.
Where do you want to set the minimum wage?
