Should only people with college degrees be allowed to vote?
I constantly hear people complaining that people that don't know anything about economy, democracy, etc. are voting and messing up the country.

What do you think of passing a law that says that only people with college degrees can vote
Would that make us a better country?

Absolutely because everyone knows unless one has a college degree they are complete illiterate idiots that cannot think for themselves.
Just ask all of the College Educated people who are unemployed, underemployed or do not utilize the degree they paid so much for how things are working out for them.

Where in the world do thoughts like this come from?

Interesting that those without a college degree are labeled as "dumb". I for one do have a college degree but would not consider friends of mine that do not have college degrees to be lesser, or dumb. College is quite expensive today and may not be worth it for the people who are in a trade. This doesn't necessarily mean that they're dumb!

From the mind of one who has "No, dumb people are people too" as a choice in a poll.

Do I want to know of the world from a practical or "intelligent" source? Most people I know who are "intelligent" are not practical; I go with practical as it involves some life skills.

No. My parents were depression children and worked hard all their lives. My dad was forced to quit school after the 8th grade and help support his family. He cried. Then he went to work.

The idea that he should not have been allowed to vote - words cannot express the contempt and disgust I feel for that idea.

No. Plenty of people with degrees lack common sense too.

What is the actual definition of educated? If only "educated people" were allowed to vote and it was based on college, then many people that just could not afford to attend college would be omitted from the voting list.

100% freedom of speech is unattainable unless all men in their degree are capable of reason and moral responsibility.

No, because while we have a lot of low information voters out there I do not support supressing the rights of American citizens and denying them one of their most basic privileges. Provided they are a citizen, and no felonies.

That is a dumfoundingly stupid idea. And what the other posters above have said.
