The supreme court as they have before can refuse to hear it; meaning they leave it as a state issue as it is now. Not a right but regulated by state in marriage laws. It excludes marriage at certain age; direct blood relatives and other requirement depending on state. The state does not limit your living together just recognizing you has married; Just like male and female living together under certain circumstances as common law not recognized in more and more states.

I know it sounds terrible but it eems that's what it's going to take.
The problem is people are living too long.

There go those hateful Republicans - making more laws and intruding into the lives of Americans, again.

Don't they want big government out of our lives?

Not sure exactly how this issue got so far down the legal road in the first place. That said, allowing two homosexuals of the same sex to enter into a marriage contract while banning two heterosexuals of the same sex from that same contract would truly be a civil rights violation. Arguing for the legality of either of course is bazaar to say the least but at least there would be logically consistency in the argument.

Same sex marriage does allow heterosexuals of the same gender to marry. I have no idea how many non-gay same sex couples have taken advantage of marriage, but I suppose a few have.

I hope you're right, but I won't bank on Kennedy and Roberts.
