Back to solar power....Research from the US have developed a super-Sun-absorbing material that will help concentrating solar power (CSP) plants to generate more electricity and run for longer - a huge step towards making solar a viable alternative to fossil fuels. Everything uses oil.

Not everything, but many things use or are manufactured using oil....You have to admit though that at 46% of all oil products, gasoline is by far the largest use of oil.

This kind of research is taking the world in the right direction.
I'll be glad when solar panels are cheap enough and efficient enough to use on every home.

Not hard to do, just check out how on a RV full timer board and you'll get plenty of ideas.

From a purely scientific and thermal dynamic standpoint I wonder if the same AGW people ranting about missing heat and closed-looped systems understand the implications as it pertains to solar cells. Irony is a dish best served cold.

What is the point you are trying to make? What implications are you talking about?

I have noticed that many of the same folks that deny AGW also seem to be anti solar power in any form, and looking at the light bulb thread also are defending old wasteful technology.

I have solar panels. I'm not anti-solar.

My bulbs were fluorescent before I switched to LED's.

We drive a high-mileage diesel.

That doesn't changes the laws of thermal dynamics.

Also, science is a conspiracy.

Science is the life-blood of our society. Post-nornal science is the conspiracy.
