If it's not harming anyone else, then why should it be illegal for them to put what they want to put into their own body?
If what an ADULT (I'm not talking about minors here) puts in their body is not harming others, then no it should not be illegal, or a crime to do so! If an adult causes harm to another due to intoxication from ANY substance, be it cannabis, alcohol, heroin, whatever, then you have my full support of prosecuting them. Let's say this, even IF they legalized cocaine, it does not mean that I would run right out and grab an 8-ball and start blowing lines. It just isn't my thing. Neither is heroin, or LSD. However; if others want to do so, then let them. Our drug war has caused not only more harm to innocent Americans, but also those citizens in Latin American countries, than the actual substances themselves.

people are stuffing their pie holes with all kinds of fattening foods as we speak that cause diabetes, high cholesterol and a host of other ailments..
fat people are a drain on society and should be stopped and jailed, based on your prohibition ways. to me a 350 pound guy stuffing his her face is just as bad as a person shooting up some heroin..
WHAT bill introduced/passed by the Republican House to end this lame war on drugs has he vetoed?
Nobody said anything about a bill. Obama owns the DEA and can remove marijuana from Schedule 1. He can also stop raiding drug users and a myriad of other federal war on drugs actions.
But they pay more now. We spend billions on jails and cops...... YOu are paying much more than if we treated them.
But do we really have effective treatments for addictions? I don't know for sure, but I doubt it. Virtually every smoker I've ever met over the age of 25 or so would like to quit, but they are hooked. The smoking rate has only declined slightly since the war on tobacco ramped up under Pres. Bill Clinton about 2 decades ago. It is currently 18%, or about 1 in 5.5. I expect that if there were a safe, simple, and effective treatment, people would be using it, and the rate would fall to within shouting distance of zero.
