Why on earth are poor people trying to live in CA ? Heck, even middle class folks can't afford to live there.
Point of entry? Similar climate? More employment opportunities for undocumented workers?

That makes no sense. Nearly half of all U.S. births are paid for by Medicaid. It might as well be NHC. And that's FAR too many poor children compared to those who are supported by their parents. It's completely financially unsustainable.

Growing poverty all over the US. CA is the most expensive state so it would be right they have the most of any demographic under study.

Kids fleeing the nest was a blip in time that coincided with the baby boom.

I am talking about the elderly in the 50-60's when I was a kid, too young to flee.

Who needed a babysitter when grandma was in residence?

And Obama thinks the best solution to this problem is to completely overwhelm the system by allowing millions of undocumented immigrants into this country.

He'll do this with his mighty pen because King Obama knows what's best for us.
The thing is those foreigners will have it easier than Americans in many ways.
What a sick & twisted joke....

Homeless American kids (even poor American kids) get to me-
I have always tried to feed & do whatever I could to help them...
This is an example of how cold most are to this issue:

Do you think the definition of poverty, has changed over time?

How many " living in poverty " own a car, flat screen TV, have a cell phone, rcable TV, reasonably stylish clothing, enough money for smokes, tats and enough left over for alcohol , pot and lottery tix? How many are overweight yet are deemed to be food insecure?

You're pretty out of touch with reality I see.
Or maybe you just don't know people who get denied food stamps;
there are many who qualify & still get denied because there's such an excess of "poor"
con artists scamming the system.....
Those are the ones with the Iphones, the luxury cars, the expensive stuff.....
Basically the low lifes that don't want to work because it's more lucrative & fun to be paid to stay home.

But what about the working poor who are working but can't afford to make a decent living....
Those people don't have public aid.....yet they work but can't make ends meet.....
Somehow it seems that the people who do get any form of public assistance
really know how to play the game-
either that or they have connections.
It's disgusting.

Btw walk a mile in their shoes.
I'd love for that to happen to ya.

Besides, what's an "undocumented worker"?

I must say I had an intense conversation the other day
about this very point you make......
Lots of people love to talk about how the poor on public aid are robbing us .....
How 'bout the CEO's....are they paying their fair share in taxes??

The rich get richer....the poor get poorer, as they say......
I know this is far fetched, but there's some eye opening facts in this clip:
