Why - if he ran as an independent - the GOP would be happy that he would siphon off votes primarily from the Democratic base. If he ran as a Democrat - he may have a hard time with moderates.
Actually what we are is a democratic republic so it's a mix of both
I think you fail to comprehend basic government.
The US government is NOT a democracy in any sense. The people do NOT vote on issues. We were founded as the states appointing Senators, and the people voting for representatives, and a committee choosing the president.
Thus, we are a representative republic. We are a republic, because those in government have legally defined and restricted powers they are unable to change themselves. It is representative, in that those in it are to represent the states and the people.
"Free stuff I didn't have to pay for" is an easy sell to the greedy.
Man, do you ever have a chip on your shoulder. I can only imagine the whippings and brow-beatings you had growing up to cause such a cold and hard view of the world. "Can't you do better than that!" "Chin up old boy!" "Work harder!" "There's no free lunch!" "You're not good enough, dammit!" I can just hear it now. To not even be able to see that some people really do want to make improvements for all of the citizens of this country is really quite sad. Bernie Sanders isn't out to take your money or give everyone free stuff. He's trying to do what is fair and balanced for all Americans, not just the monied class. He's trying to raise us up to first world standards again. We are slipping fast. Can't you see that your beloved Repubs/conservatives/whatever you want to call them--are tricking you? You mimic them to a tee---they've got your soul, man.
