Delayed deportation may only be the beginning...

News reports that President Obama has issued a solicitation for vendors capable of printing up to 34 million blank green cards, ostensibly to fulfill his promise of granting amnesty to illegal immigrants.

Unnoticed until now, a draft solicitation for bids issued by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) Oct. 6 says potential vendors must be capable of handling a “surge” scenario of 9 million id cards in one year “to support possible future immigration reform initiative requirements.”

Obama Administration Quietly Prepares 'Surge' Of Millions Of New Immigrant IDs

As for why he would take this action with so many Blacks unemployed or underemployed, that is a good question. The Daily Caller cites Obama's book, “Dreams of My Father,” where Barack Obama argued that illegal immigration hurts ‘blue collar Americans.’:

There’s no denying that many blacks share the same anxieties as many whites about the wave of illegal immigration flooding our Southern border—a sense that what’s happening now is fundamentally different from what has gone on before. Not all these fears are irrational. The number of immigrants added to the labor force every year is of a magnitude not seen in this country for over a century. If this huge influx of mostly low-skill workers provides some benefits to the economy as a whole—especially by keeping our workforce young, in contrast to an increasingly geriatric Europe and Japan—it also threatens to depress further the wages of blue-collar Americans and put strains on an already overburdened safety net.”

Nah, you go.

Oh, ok. What is the actual figure?

First you agree, then you go off the reservation! Typical!

I'm not the one defending illegals rights to anything; you seem to be! You say "you go" because you KNOW it's a ridiculous notion, and you can't back it up!

The ACTUAL FIGURE? Isn't that the point? If this administration uses nothing but bogus figures, and they do, how is ANYONE to know WHAT THE ACTUAL FIGURES ARE?

We already know they use bogus unemployment numbers! They changed the metrics to suit their political needs!

Gruber was and IS right about the intelligence of the typical Democrat!

Says Republicans who are upset when a Republican isn't in office. Obama isn't destroying the country from within.

Obama's party has gone in a short six years from overwhelming strength in the Congress and the nation to the worst position of the Democratic Party since before the Great Depression.

Everyone says there are 11 to 12 Million undocumented "immigrants" (progressives speak), "aliens" (everyone else's speak) now living in the USA.

I was reading a memorandum published by Penn State recently on current immigration issues and found a footnote dated 1974 stating there were at that time 11 to 12 Million undocumented aliens.

Be nice to know what we are dealing with here.

Default Looks like the centrist GOP is going to ...

.. let the Democrats own this "amnesty."

Why?

Well, for one reason, President Obama's pro illegal immigrants' speech and the millions of work authorizations to be issued have resulted in great poll numbers against Obama which the GOP hopes will have legs and result in future votes for Republicans and against Democrats.

The rest of the Republicans, who are right of Attila the Hun, are rabid, are Obama haters, just want to get him anyway they can. While their position is not without merit, it is better in my opinion to let those Democrats be Democrats.

But, is the "amnesty" going to damage the Republic, the economy, and the American Way? You betcha.

But when Busch was going to put it though and basically 9-11 threw it all back --why was it Ok then?- the same speech almost word by word from Busch-- explain? why was it OK for that prez? Many agree- it is the same concept that always has been, Just quiet Prez O pushed it forth in their face to deal with.

We're a nation of immigrants, but also a nation of laws

In 2006, I gave the first-ever primetime presidential address on immigration. "We're a nation of laws, and we must enforce our laws," I said. "We're also a nation of immigrants, and we must uphold that tradition, which has strengthened our country in so many ways." I then laid out a five-part plan to reform the immigration system:
  1. A major new investment in border security, including doubling the Border Patrol by the end of 2008 and temporarily deploy 6000 National Guard troops
  2. The temporary worker program, which would include a tamper-proof identification card
  3. Stricter immigration enforcement at businesses, which would reduce exploitation and help slow demand for illegal workers
  4. Promote assimilation by requiring immigrants to learn English
  5. What to do with the approximately twelve million illegal immigrants in the country? [I outlined] a rational middle ground between granting an automatic path to citizenship for every illegal immigrant and a program of mass deportation.

Amnesty back in 1986 was wrong just as the proposed amnesty by Bush was wrong. However, neither bypassed congress. Neither Reagan nor Bush granted a stay of deportation to millions of illegal aliens with work permits with 23 million Americans out of work which did bypass congress. There's your difference.

With the Bush proposal Americans were so irate that they shut down the phone lines to congress in protest so at least he shelved his proposal because he knew Americans didn't want it. Obama didn't care what the American people thought he did it anyway.
