Retail could totally avoid being open Thanksgiving, but they don't because some greedy business leaders want a few extra bucks.
The other side of the coin is the significant customer base that desires the shopping experience. If there were no crowds of customers clamoring like crazed lemmings compelled to get into the stores the stores certainly would remain closed on Thanksgiving.
*shrug* I won't eat there because I refuse to pollute my body with deep-fried fat-filled junk. Their food is trash, just like McDonald's and Wendy's, regardless of their "corporate values." They're peddling junk.
Well....fast food in general peddles junk. You don't go there expecting to get healthy food, LOL!
The closest I've seen fast food come to "healthy" is Costa Vida.
I lived on their big chicken salads when I lived in Farmington, NM.
BTW, I wonder why anybody cares that CFA chooses to close on Sunday. It's their choice and their business.

The stores acted first, not the customers. There weren't crowd waiting outside a Wal-Mart on Thanksgiving hungrily looking into the store and Wal-Mart said, 'well, it's what they want!' The stores saw an easy (and ironic) way to make money, and then the crowds appeared. I can assure you, if Black Friday weren't a thing, people would be more than content spending the day with their family, and the day after relaxing at home.
Also, tip for the consumers, there are better deals in the weeks before Christmas, and way better deals the week after. Black Friday is an amazing gimmick, and props to the corporations for thinking it up. But I'm amazed people actually think they save money.
But when people complain about stores being open on Thanksgiving, a day you're supposed to spend with loved ones, they say "too bad, they should get another job"?
Any thoughts on this? is it purely a religious stance?
chik-fil-a made a decision to close on sunday, that is their right to operate their business in that manner. some stores choose to open on sundays and holidays, again that is their right to operate in that manner. if a business is open on a holiday, the employees that are scheduled to work, need to show up, or look for a job that doesnt require them to work on holidays. if an employee wants to work on sundays, they need to look for a job that allows them to work on sundays.
