PS: Serpico was a hero. Going against the PD Blue Wall took incredible courage. It is unfortunate his level of integrity was, and is, IMO, an anomaly in that profession.

Perhaps someday cops will earn the respect of the public.

Cops generally do not fit that bill. For their level of pre-employment education and training, many are being paid far in excess of what they could make elsewhere. Too many do it solely for that reason.

In the interview Frank Serpico states that 40 years later: "I still get hate mail from active and retired police officers."

Simply for exposing the corruption of his police department.

Law Enforcement isn't even among the top ten most dangerous jobs/occupations.
The most dangerous jobs are in fishing and farming.

we love to worship in this country ,just look at all the celebrities we put on a pedestal . police are public servants, employees of the tax payers nothing more and nothing less. praise them when they do something good criticize then when they do something bad.yes most are good but that doesnt excuse the bad and corrupt ones.
