And in Pakistan, the blasphemy laws are being used the same way that the witchcraft laws were once used in Europe and their colonies. In some cases, the accusers sincerely believe that blasphemy has been committed. And in many more cases, the accusers have a personal axe to grind, or something to gain, and use the blasphemy laws to serve themselves. The problem with witchcraft, and the problem with blasphemy, is that it provokes a visceral response from the community, fear and emotion outweigh reason and justice, the victims are tarnished by the mere accusation, they no longer have any credibility, and the consequences are often deadly.
The same sort of thing happens in African countries quite regularly as well. The perpetrators often self-identify as Christians and of course, there are passages in the Bible used to justify their actions.

Unfortunately, religion is an easy "out" for violence of all stripes.

72 Virgins are worshipped: “You shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.

Middle East is the given land: “Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long upon the land which the Lord your God is giving you.

Something the Muslims have no problem performing in the streets: “You shall not murder.

All it takes in Islam is 1 person to claim the person did something that they claim is sinful: “You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.

Enough said!!......“You shall not covet your neighbor's house; you shall not covet your neighbor's wife, nor his male servant, nor his female servant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbor's.”

Where is any of their actions in line with God's word?
Muslims worship Allah (the god of Abraham)
Christians worship Jehovah (the god of Abraham)
Jews don't have a name for god so he is just (the god of Abraham)

Muslims believe in all the same profits as Christians such as: Noah, Moses, Abraham, Jesus etc. The big difference is that they believe that Muhammad is the last prophet sent by God and Christians do not believe in Muhammad or the Quran. Christians believe Muhammad stole text from the Bible to write the Quran.

Like Muslims, Christians ignore the ten commandments or any other thing that typically doesn't mix with their lives. A good example of this can be seen in the fact that the original ten commandments condoned slavery, which is considered pretty taboo by today's standards, so it was conveniently changed by the same type of men that wrote all the stolen material from various ancient cultures that the bible is constructed from.

At the end of the day, the lesson to be learned here is that none of this is actually real. It's all just make believe, so to squabble over minor details seems a bit silly. People do bad things regardless of their spiritual beliefs. In fact, those that don't participate in organized religion at all actually have the highest standards of morality according to most studies. This is because there is a correlation with these people being more likely to be intelligent, and religious people being more likely to be dum-dums.

Dum-dums are far less likely to grasp the concept of utilitarianism than intelligent people.

Not sure I would call them dum, just less likely to ask questions or challenge the preacher.

Not so sure utilitarianism is the answer either.....flaws have been found:

The most powerful objection to Utilitarianism is the idea that as a theory it doesn’t look at individual people as being unique or take into account personal feelings, for example, that our love for a certain thing might prevent us from acting in a way that would achieve the greatest overall happiness. The best summation of Utilitarianism is that it looks for “the greatest happiness of the greatest number.” This quote is commonly thought to have come from Jeremy Bentham (although he attributed it to Joseph Priestly).

Regarding my deleted post, 'This message has been deleted by Oldhag1. Reason: Off topic', to the contrary, it is very relevant to the issue of whether or not I am racist towards Arabs and Muslims.

As Americans we need to realize our wants and needs can cause war and oppression upon others.
Religion does start wars. It always has. Take a global history course. It had nothing to do with oil and gems
