I think the Democrat Party is extremely out of touch with the views of Southerners, especially white Southerners. Southern blacks are usually quite socially conservative as well. I don't even see "purple states" like NC being friendly to this extremely leftist incarnation of the Democrats.

They've been dead in the Trace21230 household ever since the moonbats took over the party circa 2000.

I live in south Louisiana. First, the Democratic party ruled the south for over a hundred years. Northern democrats treated the south with contempt and still received loyal votes. People got educated and tired of the false promises with no real benefit to the area and so things began to change. Now that the national Democratic Party has become more radicalized, the gap between them and the south widened.

The DNC and their more radical members oppose oil and coal industry. Much of the south is rich in oil and coal. Eliminating these industries eliminates jobs. These party members also oppose Christianity with fights to remove any perceived religion from schools and local government properties, even Christmas songs sung by school choirs. The more such democratic party supported groups make such attacks on Christianity, the more they alienate potential voters in the south. When people in the south think of TV and movies, we think NYC & Hollywood. Both cities and the TV/movie industry are firm Democratic Party supporters. Through very insulting shows and movies, they've made their views of the south well known. We're just stupid ignorant racist rednecks living in "fly-over" country. This is how some in the south view the DNC, as people who hate the south, look down upon the south, and avoid the area as fly-over country until they need votes then ignore them until next election.

When your figurehead is a divider who considers much of the south "the enemy" and seems fine with treating non-citizens better than citizens, what do you expect?

Your comment has no logic in it. Republicans been the party of the south since they boasted about states rights!

Another sore spot with some southerners is how the more extreme democratic party supporters treated the US Military service members. Remember the actions towards military recruiting offices, military recruiters on school campuses, and ROTC buildings between the years 2003-2008? With the exception of UNC Chapel Hill (the Berkeley of the south) most of these attacks against the military happened in the northeast and northwest parts of the country, areas firmly Democratic Party. Protest the war is fine, but don't attack those serving. Heck, military recruiting offices in NYC were bombed and the bomber never found and arrested. Then there's the city of Berkeley whose city government voted to send a letter to the Marine recruiter office telling them they were unwanted and unwelcome intruders to their city, ordered the city attorney to find a legal means to evict the Marines from the city, give free and permanent permits to an antiwar group to protest the recruiting office (vandalism and harassment), the city mayor joins the protesters telling Marines to get out of his city, and in the election later that same year most of the city leaders involved were 're-elected including the mayor. Many in the south volunteered to serve or have close relatives who served. You attack the military service members in general, you attack our family.

Do your research. Democrats ruled the south for about a hundred years.
